Money Smart Fashion.. has been relocated.

So, I was having some issues when I tried to change the background on my blog. So i moved it to wordpress.
The new address is http://moneysmartfashion.wordpress.com/

please check it out!

I will probably be posting on this more often then not in an attempt to check off my to-do list item of : blog more often, and its easier and cheaper for me to write about the clothes I want instead of always buying them

Grace's To Do List

Inspired by Mike, who was inspired by a book he read by his favorite author, I decided to create my own to-do list. Now it is not quite as lengthy as Mike Gayle's ( the author of the book) or my own Mike's for that matter, but it is a good place to start. Mike is giving himself only until Christmas to complete his installment, where I am giving myself until my 26th birthday for my own. Let me know what you think.

With Mike's help do a home inventory of all our stuff in case we get robbed.

Pay something off- either my Bloomingdale's Visa or my Police and Fire loan.

Figure out how to submit my coursework from Loyola to MSU, so I can maybe qualify for my Bachelor's in Marketing.

Go one month without buying any clothes, shoes or accessories- and put the money I would have spent towards my debt.

Set up a Automatic Debit to Sallie Mae, and start re-paying the ludicrous amount of money I owe them

Plan a trip to Denver to visit Nancy and Lauren.

Figure out our escrow account.

Start (and adhere to) an exercise/running routine.

Invest in a decent set of luggage.

Decide on a method to organize my pictures, and actually do it.

Make brownies from scratch

Take a day trip to Atlantic City

Get a pedicure, because I am in desperate need of one.

Get over your aversion to the phone and call the friends you haven't spoke to in ages.

Blog, semi-regularly.

Make a dinner for mike that does not consist of eggs, toast, and microwave bacon.

Replace the crappy blinds that litter the windows in our house

Figure out how much I spend on clothes, shoes, accessories and target in a year, and plan to spend less.

Send all my family, mikes family, and our friends birthday card, on their actual birthday.

Make a list of my family, mike's family, and our friend's birthdays.

Make sure I have everyone's current address/ update my address book.

Play with cat's more.

Get over my anxiety of car washes, and take my car through one.

Save money to invest in the stock market.

Get outside more-- go for a hike, play in the snow (when applicable), force mike to go skiing this winter.

Have more date nights that consist of more then just dinner and a movie.

Clean up my inbox by removing myself from mailing lists that I don't know how I got on.

Get rid of accounts I don't need or rarely use (twitter, myspace)

Volunteer for something.

Replace/Tailor/Alter any ill-fitting clothes.

Go to the shooting range with my dad, cause I have always wanted to fire a gun and it would be some good qt.

Actually read through the business weeks that I am getting from my free subscription instead of glancing at them briefly.

just some house pictures...

These are just some very rough pictures of the house, mostly just to show you what we've done!

ps. the reason i'm exciting about the closet is because I put all the tracking and shelving in myself ( with some help from Mike of course.)

so i've been thinking....

First about how it feels like I haven't spoke to any of my long distance friends in a lifetime. For that, I would like to apologize. I don't even know where the time goes anymore. I feel like just yesterday was May 1st, and now all of a sudden it is (almost) the last day of June.

We've been moved in for a week now, and I'm just about through my first Graduate class ( if you can even call it that, I call it the Math class I should have 3.0'ed the first two times I took it). Anyways, I am hoping to get a chance to catch up with you all very soon, and hoping to put some pictures up of the house. I'm dying to show it off.

Secondly though I've been thinking about how much I despise the monotony of a 9-5 job. Its not even so much Enterprise that I hate anymore. Its the fact that every morning when I go to work I can predict almost down to the minute what my day holds. Yes, the customer are all different, but the situations are all inherently the same. Day in and day out I do all the things that I'm expected to do, and it all but drives me nuts. However, the very predictability of my job and pay check keeps me there. While I fantasize about one day striking out on my own to start my own business, its is terrifying to consider the insecurity of that very dream. There is no guaranteed money, there is no guaranteed work.

I've considered starting some kind of side project, I dabble in mystery shopping every now and again, mostly to supplement my income but unless you take on about a bazillion jobs that is not enough to live off of. I have considered starting some kind of personal shopper business, except I don't even know where to start and I'm afraid my already existing obligations of school and Enterprise will limit the time I can dedicate to the project and it would ultimately fail (like my fashion blog).

While I envy the other Enterpriser's who supplement their income through 8 hour sittings at Poker tables, I'm afraid of the unknown, and afraid to try my hand of something I'm unsure of.

I kind of lost where I was going with this, but realizing that its not the job I hate its the predictability has made it a lot easier for me to get up for work in the morning.

the house.

Ok, so for all of you that I have promised pictures too here is THE house.

Its not much to look at , trust me we know. Mike and I have gotten a lot of crap for what this thing looks like on the outside. But there is not much we can do about a house that was built in the early 70's.

However, the inside is nothing to scoff at. Its clean, well kept, and does not require a lot of work before move in. Plus its in a desirable location (Howard County) with plenty of room for updating ( the sellers only went as far as laminate floors and acrylic counter tops).

We had to compromise on some things ( size of kitchen, private bathroom, and walk-in closet ) to get in the area we wanted at a reasonable price point decisions I don't regret yet but check back maybe in a few years.

So, now all I need are some volunteers to help move!
