i hate the yankees

So, as you all know I am a phillies fan, born and raised.

My family on the other hand have become yankee converts..

let me tell you something about the Yankees... i hate the yankees.

As a philly native, I feel betrayed. I still hold the hope that one day the phillies will return to the world series, and actually win in my life time. When i moved to michigan i did not at first whim become a tigers fan, in fact it actually took them 4 years to win my favor. Now, thanks to some coaxing from mike, have become a top tier team for me.

On friday, i went to a baltimore orioles game. They were on their first game of three against the yankees. And while i usually require teams to earn my support. I found myself cheering for the orioles immediately. Why you ask? Because i'm pretty sure the orioles fans were outnumbered in their own ballpark. Now i know that the club has struggled for some time now. But everywhere i looked i saw yankees attire with flecks of orange speckled about. Even the street vendors were better stocked with yankees gear then orioles. If the orioles players didn't feel betrayed, i did for them. I'm sick of the Yankees, I'm sick of their salary extravaganzas. And even though it would have been a great piece of baseball history to have attended the game that A-Rod hit his 500th at (he was at 499 that night). It was better to be at the game that night because the orioles celebrated the 48 year career of the man that handed the balls to the ump. (it was a 3000+ homegame streak.)

I appreciate local stories like that more then some overpaid overcelebrated baseball player doing his job.

on that note, here are some pictures from the game.

the skyline, i kind love cities... and skylines.
incase you weren't sure.. they played the Yankees.
