Thats right, that day finally came. I bought a new car.
I just did about 500 dollars in repair to my car 2-3 weeks ago. It was running fine, and I was planning on letting it go sometime in the spring. Then on my way to work on tuesday it started acting up again. Not too far from work my check engine came on again and thats when I decided for the last time. There was just no point in avoiding it anymore. I needed a new car. The rit had more then did her job of getting me through college.
I had yesterday off so I insisted my dad come down for some moral support for my car shopping extravaganza. I already knew what I wanted, a forester, so pretty much my goal yesterday was to get that, at the best possible price.
I spent all of tuesday night doing some research about car prices, and fair market value prices, all that good stuff. I had everything I needed written down so I was ready to haggle. Our first stop was Russel Subaru in Baltimore/Catonsville. Ultimately it ended up being our only stop. I took it for a test drive and the sales guy that was helping me was awesome. He had been in the business forever and you could tell customer service came first to getting the sale. He laid all his cards on the table up front. He didn't try to bullshit me with the sticker price, or play dumb about their internet prices. He gave me the internet price up front (with a nice 2500 dollar discount off their price) and they even highballed the rit as worth 300 for a trade in. In fact everyone in the dealership as just nice, not one walked by without saying hello or stopping to have a conversation that didn't have anything to do with buying a car. My salesman even offered to take my plates down to the MVA so I wouldn't have to. He even went as far as writing his home phone number on his business card. He also offered to drive with me down to my insurance agent so I could leave straight from there. In the end, it was just an awesome experience. The sales manager gave me a gift ala subaru for my first purchase, and next time i go in they are going to wash it and wax it for me too.
But anyway, now that I blabbered on about the sales guys, here is the good stuff. PICTURES!!!
ps. my hair is not nearly as red as it appears in that picture... its the light.
