Yesterday wasn't exactly shaping up to be the best birthday "day" (as mike refers to it) by any means. But some how in the end it turned out to be one of the top 5 days of my life, if not the best.
I had my spa treatment in the morning which was great, I was glad i got to experience it. (and i'm glad that mike thinks about taking care of me like that.) However, unfortunately, it is next to impossible for me to relax and/or do nothing. Part of my treatment was a 30 minute steam prior to my massage. Lets just say i was over it by minute 4. I was really reaching for things to think about while i just laid there in a long strange steamy tube. The massage I liked, alot. I definitiely would pay to have that done again. But the facial, i think i could live with out it. Scratch that, i enjoyed the part where she cleared my pores, but I could definitely do without the 50 lotions/creams/crap that she kept putting on my face. I'm very minimal when it comes to my daily face cleaning routine, so I was disgusted with how my face felt by the time the girl was done.
Then, on the way up to philly for the Phillies game me and mike got stuck in traffic multiple times. The 1st in Maryland, right around Aberdeen. We sat in traffic for an hour, and for what? Absolutely NOTHING. Seriously, after an hour, there was no accident, no construction, NOTHING. I was pissed. Then just as we crossed into PA already running late for the game we hit more traffic this time however there was actually construction. The third time was after we picked my sister up on the way to the game. Apparantly all of 95 south was completely closed down, so traffic was flooding side streets. We didn't get to the game until 5.00. An hour after it had started.
I was not a happy camper, but i was happy enough that we had finally made it, had found anne and bobby, and had got to our seats. Thats exactly when the magic started happening. The Phils were trailing the Marlins, but right after we sat down the Phillies had a 3 run 4th inning.
All was right in the world again, we got some beers, watched the game, and had some laughs. Then we fast forwarded to the 8th inning. Jimmy Rollins was up to bat. He hit it deep, realy deep, right to our freaking seats. All i really can remember was seeing that ball go up, seeing it start coming back down towards us, and then mike turning to me with the freaking ball in his hand. MIKE CAUGHT A JIMMY ROLLINS HOMERUN BALL. It was crazy, everyone was so excited, he was getting high-fives from everyone. He also got to take it to guest services so j-roll could autograph it for him. AWESOME. Me and Mike both have been waiting a life time for something like that to happen, we went to baseball games as little kids with the same hope that we would catch a ball. And it did, at a game we were at together. Amazing.
If you thought that was it, you were wrong it just kept getting better. After the game we went to chickies and petes for some beer and crab fries, and to watch some college football. While we were there a local newsanchor showed up doing a story about the eagles. He interviewed some fans, and the videotaped people singing the fightsong. Guess who those people were... Yup, it was me, anne, my sister amber, and her friend judith. Yup pretty sure.
Now obviously I was already thinking, hey we might be on tv tonight for that homerun which would be pretty freaking sweet, but could it be possible that I would be on the philadelphia local news twice in one night? nahhh...
After chickies we took mike to get his first offical philly cheesesteak down at geno's. I ordered for him, whiz wit and mushrooms. We walked around a little at both pat's and geno's and then we decided to head to my parents house. On the way there my sister called me to tell me that the homerun clip was on the Phillies website and we were in it! All of us. I think that was the coolest part. All five of us were there celebrating. When we got there we put on the news just to see if we would be on the TV version too. Sure enough we were. The we turned on the channel 3 news and guess what, there we were again, singing fly eagles fly at chickies and petes. Of course we watched the rest of the news cast to see if we would be on the same channel twice that night, and sure enough they showed us again. "High fives all around!"
I don't know how mike does it, but he always finds a way to make a day special.
