i finally realize why rental cars are such a profitable business..

Before starting my career at enterprise i never realized how profitable, and necessary the car rental industry was. My experience with renting cars has always been limited to what we call the leisure, or retail segment. Basically, people who are going vacation and need to rent a car upon arrival, or people renting cars for a road trip, or even taking children back to college. However, car rental companies do not just rely on that segement to turn a profit. The real money comes into play when you take in account insurance replacement deals. Insurance replacements make up about 80% of enterprises business outside of airport locations. Why is that? PEOPLE ARE HORRIBLE DRIVERS. What's even worse is that my job relies on that simple fact. I wouldn't have a job be it not for the thousands of people that get into accidents everyday.
In the past month of living here in Maryland, i think i have avoided more accidents then i have even experienced in my whole licensed life. I always thought Michigan drivers were the worst, but i was grossly mistaken. Apparantly, pulling out into the lanes to make a left turn at a light was the least of Michigans problems. Where as in Maryland they have little understanding of the phrase "right of way" .

example: Last wednesday, my yeariversary if you will I was driving to work, the same way i always drive. My drive is really quite simple, and I was just about to the end of it, my trailer lies about half way up the block from the last intersection i have to drive through on my way there. As i was approaching the intersection I had a green light. (by the way, it was a little rainy this morning) I see the green light and continue on at my current speed, (around 30mph) when a cargo van pulls out of the gas station on my right and precedes to cut in front of me, while crossing three lanes of traffic to get to the left turn lane. So i slammed on my brakes, and poor rit came to a screeching halt behind the van, luckily unscathed. What the fuck right? Thats what i was thinking, and yelling from my drivers seat. Only hoping that the other driver could see how pissed i was. In fact he did see me, and then he got out of his van and began to yell at me, as if i was the one that had cut across 3 lanes of traffic in front of him. I was completely shocked, and wholly pissed off. I was about 5 seconds away from calling the cops. SERIOUSLY. who does that? Idoits. thats who.

If you think thats it, its definitely not. Luckily the incident about has only happened once, where as the next thing i'm going to tell you has happened several.

My trailer is convienently located on the lot of a car dealership. We have a driveway you turn into to get to our parking lot. Across the road is a shopping center. Our driveways basically face each other, and are split by the main road. I can't even tell you how many times I have gone to turn right out of our driveway, only to have to stop because a person turning left has decided that since they were there first they are going first, despite the fact that they are yet again crossing traffic! Where as I am only make a right hand turn. IT DRIVES ME FREAKING NUTS. Because not only are they wrong, but they throw their hands up in exasperation, like I am the idiot driver. HEY ITS NOT A STOP SIGN RIGHT TURNS= RIGHT OF WAY. Lord help me. I swear to god if i ever get into an accident in a company car because of one of those dumbasses i will cut them, seriously.

My last example of why Maryland drivers are idiots are some of the douchebags that work for my very own company. None work in my trailer, and i thank god for that. Even though I work in a trailer, i've got some good people to work with. Anyways, during day-to-day activities I usually end up interacting with lots of people from other branches. On thursday i was fortunate enough to be stuck in a car with probably the biggest douchebag i've ever met. First of all he couldn't understand how he beat the driver down to admin when he was only going 90, and chances were the driver was going well over 100 to get down there. Hmm thats safe. Secondly, he started to talk about how Pennsylvania drivers were terrible cause they always went so slow. I'm guessing, its because we were only going 75 or 80.

I don't really understand how the MVA have no problem issuing these retards drivers licenses but wont let me change mine over because i'm short one peice of freaking mail with my address on it.
But I guess without those idiots on the road, i wouldn't have such great job security. So thank you, just don't hit my car, or ill fucking cut you.
